This policy includes both Errors and Omissions Insurance (E&O) and General Liability (GL). We have a great team of insurance agents that are available to address any of your questions and concerns through the application process.

GAIN is proud to provide access to a combined Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) & General Liability (GL) policy for individual practitioners, with limits up to 2M per claim.

As a condition of membership, all professional members are required to hold a minimum $1M in liability coverage within the first 90 days of joining GAIN.

Terms:
The policy period is one year. The policy renews each year on the anniversary of your original purchase.
You must be a member in good standing with The Global Association for Integrative Nutrition to be eligible to purchase and hold the GAIN group discounted coverage.
Proof of membership is required.
This coverage and pricing assumes an income of $150,000 and under with no previous GL or E&O claims. Pricing is subject to change based on different parameters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Am I required to be a member of GAIN to qualify for the liability coverage?
Yes, this is a group coverage with special group rates. As a condition of our contract with BMS, all professionals who opt for this coverage must be professional members of GAIN and must remain in good standing.
Is the cost of the liability insurance included in the member fee?
The cost of insurance coverage is an additional premium that is separate to the member fee. As this coverage is so heavily discounted, you will likely find that stand alone coverage will cost more than the premium + member fee.
If I join GAIN, am I required to hold my coverage through your group plan?
As condition of professional membership, all members are required to hold a minimum $1M in coverage to cover the scope of a holistic nutrition professional, however, you are not required to purchase this coverage through our group plan.
Why am I required to have liability coverage if I want to be a member of GAIN?
As a professional member of GAIN, your liability coverage provides assurance to clients that they are in safe hands, knowing you’ve met all the requirements to practice professionally and are backed by protection that puts their well-being first.
Liability insurance is a standard requirement for anyone in an advisory role because it serves a dual purpose:
It protects your clients in the unlikely event that something goes wrong
It also safeguards your business and assets. To support our members, we’ve partnered with a provider to offer affordable, streamlined liability coverage. Simply complete the application form to ensure you’re fully protected and professionally prepared to work with clients.
I want to work while travelling outside of Canada. Will I be covered for this?
Standard liability coverage does not extend to international work. If you plan to offer services while traveling outside of Canada, you must obtain special travel coverage for the specific dates and locations where you’ll be practicing. This ensures you remain protected and compliant, no matter where your work takes you.
You are, however, covered under the PLI port of our policy, to work with clients internationally while domiciled and physically running your business within Canada. It is important to note that while working with clients outside Canada, that you will only be covered if you are working within your Scope of Practice and not breaking any laws in the country your client is in.
