Neurodivergence in Health Coaching: Strengths-Based and Evidence-Informed Approaches
When: August 17th @ 1PM PST
Speaker: Carleen Ross, MSc., MAPPCP
This session explores how neurodivergence—including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia—shapes health behaviours, stress responses, communication, and engagement within health coaching contexts. Many traditional coaching approaches are designed for neurotypical patterns of motivation, executive functioning, and behaviour change. As a result, neurodivergent clients may experience misalignment, reduced engagement, or unintended self-blame when standard strategies are applied. Drawing on evidence-informed practice and strengths-based approaches, this session introduces the three main neurdvergent profiles (Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism) and practical adaptations for health coaches to better support neurodivergent clients. Participants will learn how to recognize common barriers, adjust communication and coaching strategies, and create more inclusive, effective coaching relationships.
